The Fruit of the Spirit (Part I)

Brian McCoubrey joins us from the Baptist Church in Saintfield to consider the Fruit of the Spirit in the Word of God. Dealing particularly with Love, Joy and Peace, we look forward to the next meeting, in which Stephen Jamison will cover the remaining six. As a whole these characteristics should be the guide of every young believer as they seek to live for Christ in these days.

Dealing with Temptation (Matthew 4)

Pastor Ian Wilson considers the topic of temptation by observing how our Lord Jesus Christ reacted to the temptation he faced from Satan himself. Every believer must face temptation, yet armed with the Word of God, there will always be a way of escape. No child of God will ever be tempted beyond what He gives us the strength to fight.

The Testimony of Bernie Foster

Brought up as a Roman Catholic, steeped in religion, sacraments and pilgrimage, Bernie Foster came to realise that her works could bring neither joy nor salvation. Through God's mercy, she was brought into contact with a Christian lady who believed with all her heart that salvation was found in Christ alone. Bernie came to a faith in Christ, and gained a true assurance of sins forgiven at the feet of Christ.

The Faith of the Believer (Hebrews 11)

Bobby McKay, speaking from that great chapter of Faith in Hebrews 11, discusses the need for the believer to firstly discover a Faith that Saves, a Faith that Satisfies, and a Faith that Serves. Bobby comes to Listooder for the first time, and is the regular Pastor of Bloomfield Independent Methodist Church in Belfast.

The Morning Watch (Psalm 5)

Pastor David Legge exhorts believers to take time to meet with God each and every morning. Not simply 'going through the motions', true communion with God is essential to Christian growth. From the Word of God he highlights many examples of characters in the Bible who met early with their Heavenly Father, not least our own Saviour Jesus Christ, who rose, while it was yet dark, to pray.

A Study on Prayer (Matthew 6)

In considering the subject of Prayer from the Word of God, Marcus Somerville discusses the importance of knowing God as our Father in prayer, what it truly means to pray without ceasing, and how we should pray in the will of God, for His glory. In doing so, according to John 16:24, the believer can experience the full joy of God's salvation.

Society for Distributing Hebrew Scriptures

Thomas Rice, the local representative of the SDHS, brings a report of work in Northern Ireland and beyond. He reports how the Lord is bringing many opportunity for Believers to present the Scriptures, free of charge, to Jewish people in their own homes, out in the shopping centres, or at various book fairs and special events. Many Jews are keen to learn the truth about Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and Messiah of Israel.

Testimony of Stephen Law (Proverbs 23)

Saved at an early age, Stephen Law became proud of his own standing in Christ, judging others Christians deep in sin, before he himself fell deep into sin. He recalls how the Lord graciously preserved his life and restored him back to the side of His Saviour. With a passion and love for Christ, Stephen exhorts the believer to remain humble, and remember that at best, we are only sinners saved by grace.

The Daily Christian (2 Peter 1)

Speaking from 2 Peter chapter 1, Pastor William Creighton considers firstly A Christian's Possession before moving on to look at A Christian's Progression. In this simple message, he exhorts every Believer to add to their faith the characteristics outlined in verse 5. A great challenge to every Christian, both young and old.

A Christian in the Workplace (Ephesians 6)

In the first meeting back after the summer, Thomas Murray speaks from Ephesians chapter 6, reminding the Believer that when at work, we are serving and representing our Lord, and not just our boss.
